Local and High-Tech?

Opening conference Vienna - On the future of European industry and the balancing act between LOCAL and GLOBAL

The Green Party Vienna in cooperation with Grüne Bildungswerkstatt warmly invite to the first event of the Green European Foundation-project “Socioecological Reindustrialisation”: “Local & High-Tech?”
Friday, September 5 th 2014, 9.30 AM
Town Hall, Grauer Salon (Room 319)
1082 Vienna, entrance Felderstrasse, stairs N° 8, elevator 1 st floor What's it about? In the last decades, Europe has lost numerous major industries. Companies like the „Waldviertler“ shoe factory and the successful positioning of social innovative fashion labels on the one hand, run counter to problematic processes on the other hand: jobs are being outsourced, industrial production drifts to neighboring countries and other regions around the globe, whereas local knowledge
vanishes more and more.
Nevertheless we need local handicraft, commerce and industry to safeguard jobs, to avoid long transportation routes and to reduce dependencies. But how do local circular-economies, social innovation and high-tech go together? Which systematic innovations are capable of fostering cooperative, sustainable and social structures? How can the destructive dynamics of protectionism as well as competition among nations be prohibited for the good of nature and employment?
